An 18-year-old girl, whose teeth were pushed into her gum when she fell on stairs nine years ago, will receive a cheque for just over €32,000 damages, as recommended by the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.
Barrister John Nolan told the Circuit Civil Court that Sarah O’Mahony, of St Mary’s Mansions, Sean McDermott St, Dublin, had, as a nine-year-old child been walking up concrete steps to her home in October 2002 when she had been caused to trip and fall on her face.
She had tripped because of a badly reinstated repair on the steps. Her case had been adjourned in 2006 because of a need to obtain further dental reports.
Judge Matthew Deery said it was in Ms O’Mahony’s interests that she accept the offer and he directed the payment to her.
