The cross-Border Foyle Fisheries Commission organisation is in trouble with anglers in the north-west over its plans to increase fishing permits for members of the Strabane-Lifford Anglers' Association from £15 a year to £30 a day.
Strabane independent councillor Mr James O'Kane said the proposed increase would encourage poaching. "It's mad, it's crazy and if they go ahead with it, it will take bailiffs from hell to Connacht to control the poachers", he said.
