LONDON - A Liverpool soccer fan yesterday won £201,729 in damages from the police for the stress caused by his half brother's death in the Hillsborough stadium disaster of 1989.
Teenager Mr Ian Glover was one of 96 Liverpool supporters killed in a crush at a cup semifinal game against Nottingham Forest at the stadium in Sheffield. Mr John McCarthy (35), had given Mr Glover, his half brother, the ticket for the game.
He had a seat in a different part of the ground, and could only look on as the 96 were crushed to death in an overcrowded area of terracing.
