A total of 200 taxi licences at a cost of £15,000 each are to be issued by Dublin Corporation and the county councils of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin.
The local authorities are inviting applications for the new licences for wheelchair accessible vehicles to operate in the Dublin taximeter area.
It is proposed that the new licences will be issued by early October.
The Irish Taxi Federation was granted a judicial review of the City Council's decision in the High Court last Monday but it is expected the legal challenge will be deal with prior to the issue of licences.
