A Co Mayo syndicate has won the midweek Lotto jackpot of £500,000. The 20 people will receive £25,000 each today. The group, which includes four women, consists of employees of Ballinrobe based contractor Mr Michael Cawe, whose firm specialises in suspended ceilings.
One of Mr Cawe's daughters, Joanne, acted as cashier for the syndicate which has been doing the Lotto for four years without any significant benefit. The winning ticket was purchased in Cummins's supermarket, Ballinrobe. This is the second big win for the supermarket. Last Easter, a punter who remained anonymous won £1.7 million there.
