Two Dublin men have gone on trial at Belfast Crown Court accused of stealing £300,000 worth of cigarettes from a Belfast warehouse on February 12th, 1996. Mr Desmond Christie (32), of Rathoath Drive, and Mr Derek Sweetman (38), of Dingle Road, Cahra, were with six Belfast men when police swooped on the Holmes Cash and Carry on Boucher Road, Belfast, and impounded a Dublin registered lorry loaded with £150,000 worth of cigarettes.

The trial is expected to last about three weeks.
