180 jobs to go at Dawn Meats UK plant after fire

Dawn Meats is to shed over 180 jobs at one of its meat processing factories in the UK.

The move comes after a fire hit one of its operations in

Carmarthenshire in Wales last month.

A spokesperson for the UK plant, Mr Mike Statters told ireland.comtoday that the redundancies at the facility were a "direct consequence of the fire."

Mr Statters said the company would be consulting with employees about the possibility of finding alternative employment within the company.
