Twelve people were hospitalised after a pile-up involving two cars, a lorry and a bus carrying a girls' football team outside Dublin last night.
The accident occurred on the M50 south-bound carriageway near the Blanchardstown turnoff. The truck hit the bus carrying the juvenile football team returning to Marino, Dublin, which then struck a car. A second car hit the bus from behind.
The lorry driver was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital where his condition was described as not serious. The driver of the bus and 10 teenage girls received treatment for shock at James Connolly Memorial and Mater hospitals. They were not expected to be held overnight.
