A teenager has been awarded compensation of €12,000 after a fall at a Dublin City Council playground when he was playing football.
Barrister Seosaimhín Ní Chathasaig told the Circuit Civil Court that Terence Power (15) had broken his left wrist in a fall and had his arm in plaster for more than a month. She told Circuit Court president Mr Justice Matthew Deery that the injury had hampered Terence, a boxer, particularly in the use of a punch bag.
Terence, McKee Park, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin, had been playing football in a Dublin City Council-run playground at St Mary’s Place, Dublin. He caught his foot in the perimeter fence and had fallen on his left wrist. X-rays had revealed an undisplaced fracture which had been treated by the application of a plaster for five weeks.
Ms Ní Chathasaig said the council had made a settlement offer of €12,000 compensation and costs which she was recommending.
