The funeral of one of Ireland's oldest women, Ms Mary Ellen (Ciss) Geaney, who was 110, took place in Fermoy, Co Cork, last weekend. Ms Geaney, who was 110 on January 1st, died at St Patrick's Hospital, Fermoy, on Good Friday. She was buried on Sunday in the presence of her only living relative in Ireland, Mr Eddie Wallace, a second cousin from Co Waterford.
Another of Ireland's oldest women, Ms Margaret Rankin, of Florencecourt, Co Fermanagh, also died on Good Friday. She was just three weeks short of her 110th birthday.
