A banker has been awarded £1,500 damages, including legal costs, against a job recruitment agency which published excerpts from her c.v. in an advertisement promoting its own success.
Ms Orla Fox of Kilmainham, Dublin, told the Circuit Civil Court she hired Osborne Recruitment to find her a position and within two days she had a job. She said she had been greatly distressed to discover it had used her name and position and confidential information from her curriculum vitae in an advertisement in Business and Finance.
Judge Liam Devally said the advertisement was not defamatory of Ms Fox - it had been highly laudatory of her.
