What was your best holiday?
Any holiday I have gone on with my family and I don't care how corny that sounds! It's really a lovely thing to do. I have great memories of a trip on the west coast of America three years ago when we drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
What was your worst holiday?
I don't think I've had any disasters. Any time you go somewhere you get what you pay for. But we went to the cheapest place in Italy and it was fantastic, I loved it!
If budget or work were not a restriction, what would be your dream holiday?
Unlike most people who have some place in mind like climbing Machu Picchu I don't think about it much. I don't want to be like Aston Kutcher and spend $200 million on a space flight. There are so many places I have never been – India, South America, China, Canada. But I would always want to go away with the family and if I had to go somewhere it would be Africa or Russia.
If you had your pick, who would you bring on holiday with you?
Obviously it' the family. But I did go with some long term friends I have known since second year and I would do it again no problem. We drove through the desert towards Las Vegas. One friend lives over there so knows all about the RV parks. The most important thing was the right music and I decided that!
What's your favourite place in Ireland?
I go to Rosslare all the time. But my favourite part of Ireland is between Leenane and Louisburgh into Westport. It's one of the most beautiful drives or walks. The Field was filmed around there. The weather doesn't matter, it's incredible.
Your recommended holiday reading?
I do a lot of reading on holidays, generally a pile of movie and music magazines I have accumulated throughout the year. I also watch a lot of movies, in Wexford there is a local DVD rental place and there are all sorts of films on Netflix. One book I read towards the end of my last holiday was Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín.
Where will you go to next?
If I can afford to I will go abroad. Otherwise I will go to Rosslare where my nine-year-old has the freedom to be out all day playing, unlike in Dublin. Whatever makes other people happy makes me happy.
