Christmas iceIf you live in the northeast, you might want to get your skates on and head for Christmas on Ice at Blayney Road in Letterkenny, Co Donegal. Opening next Friday, this is a 450sq m ice rink that includes a children's soft play area, Santa's palace and a corporate entertainment area.It's a sibling of the rinks at the RDS and Liffey Valley, in Dublin. West Cork walksSkibbereen Walking Group has organised several great walks over the winter. Tomorrow week, November 30th, the group meets at the Irish Whip pub in Ballydehob at 1.45pm for a hike. On Sunday, December 14th, they meet at Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery for a walk, also at 1.45pm. More details from 087-9079076.

Belfast HillsThere's a walk around the perimeter of Divis Mountain, in Co Antrim, next Saturday, November 29th. The Divis Mountain lies in the heart of the Belfast Hills, which provide a beautiful backdrop to the city's skyline. The mountains comprise a mosaic of grassland, heath and bog and are home to a host of wildlife and archaeological remains. Donegal walks guide

Edited by Tom Phelan, it provides a good mix of walks, including lakeside strolls, rambles through woods and meanders on local beaches.
