Go Outdoors:A week-long programme of field trips, led by Prof Herity and Dr David McGuinness, will take place from July 31st to August 7th in the archaeologically-rich area around Glencolmcille, Donegal.

Mini marathonThe 18th annual Westaro Mini Marathon (formerly Balla 10k) takes place in Balla, Mayo on Saturday, July 24th at 7pm. Mayo footballer Cora Staunton will race for Enable Ireland Mayo Services. There will be prizes for first past the post in all categories and a special 2km, under-16 run starts at 6pm. Fee: €16. Bog DayThe Northern Ireland Environment Agency will host International Bog Day at Peatlands Park near Dungannon on Sunday, July 25th. This will include the Northern Ireland Bog Snorkelling Championships. Competitors have to swim two lengths of a 60-yard bog drain with no conventional swimming strokes.
