The US press is raving about the current collection from menswear label Duckie Brown, designed by Daniel Silver and Steven Cox.
With its dark palette and muscular shots of colour, the duo’s collections are based on everyday essentials, but reworked in a modern way. For winter there are smart trenchcoats and parkas, well-designed tweed jackets and richly textured scarves. Duckie Brown’s popularity is spreading to retailers all over the world, from Moscow to Istanbul to Tokyo.
A small but growing company, Duckie Brown makes all its clothes in old-time factories in New York. Even its handmade sweaters are made in Queens. Cox trained in Liverpool before working in the industry for Theory and Tommy Hilfiger for 15 years, and Silver was a former glove designer and TV producer before the two hooked up. They insist that their clothes push boundaries yet are wearable, and they want them only in the best fashion stores. Graham Norton is one of their biggest fans.
