CLANCY BROTHERS

A new art exhibition examining the cultural legacy of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (above), features personal works by some of the family of the legendary folk group, as well as a host of other Irish artists. The exhibition is located in the Joan Clancy Gallery, run by Tom Clancy’s widow, Joan, situated in An Rinn Gaeltacht. The gallery is open from 11am to 5pm daily. joanclancygallery.com

Local historian Ray Martin runs a series of daily walking tours in Galway city throughout the summer, including medieval and waterways walks which take up to two hours. GYPSY CARNIVAL CORK

A night of Balkan and Gypsy music comes to Cork’s Pavilion music venue tomorrow night with the Crooked Fiddle band from Australia and the Za Ucha Project, followed by DJ Mayakovsky playing eastern European music. It begins at 9.30pm and admission is €10. pavilioncork.com

KILKENNY ARTS

The annual Kilkenny Arts Festival begins tomorrow and runs until Sunday week. Tomorrow’s highlights include a play by Una McKevitt called Victor and Gord at 1pm in Cleere’s, and a public conversation between writer Joseph O’Connor (above) and musician Philip King at the Watergate Theatre at 8pm. kilkennyarts.ie
