MERRIMAN SCHOOL

Starting tomorrow, this annual summer school will be held at the Glór Theatre in Ennis, and is examining the current and possible future role of religion in Irish society. Tomorrow’s highlights include a lecture by Pádraic Conway entitled When Disbelief is Gone, at 8.15pm. Individual lectures are €12, while a ticket for the full school is €100. See merriman.ie.

Meet members of Concern’s emergency response team who dealt with the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake at an open day tomorrow at Cultivate on Andrew Street (off Dame Street) in Dublin. An audio visual and photographic exhibition will also be held. Open from noon to 5.30pm, and admission is free. See concern.net.

LEGEND OF GRÁINNE MHAOL

Held every Wednesday at Hotel Westport, this music show traces the story of Gráinne Mhaol through Irish song and dance. Performers include Cora Smyth (above) and James Kilbane. Tickets €20. Tel: 098 25122.

IRISH AGRICULTURE MUSEUM

Located on the grounds of Johnstown Castle in Wexford, this museum holds a large array of country life artefacts from ploughs to country house furniture. It’s open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 5pm. Adults €6, child €4. See irishagrimuseum.ie

PEATLANDS PARKS

Spend a day learning about bog life in Dungannon with specially constructed boardwalks and trails. The park is open from 9am until 9pm and admission is free. At weekends, a narrow gauge railway train operates at the park from 1pm-5pm. See ni-environment.gov.uk.
