Anyone with experience of newborns will know that, within the first few months of baby’s life, the child will have accumulated more belongings than Imelda Marcos had shoes – many of which will remain barely touched, barely used or barely worn, not to mention the countless items that never see the light of day.
Olivia Mai of thestorkexchange.ie has come up with a way for parents to exchange these items for things that will be of use – at a baby swap party, the next of which will be in Carlton Hall, Marino, Dublin, on September 4th at 11.30am. Would-be swappers are asked to bring a minimum of one good quality clean item (maximum of eight) – be it clothing, books or toys. To keep things hygienic, The Stork Exchange doesn’t accept Babygros, bibs, vests or soft toys.
Swappers are given tokens in exchange for their donated goods, and there are refreshments available on the day – making it a good way to meet other mums, too. Children and partners are, of course, welcome, and there is a €5 cover charge for the swap. Tel: 087-2558702, thestorkexchange.ie
