Scenes from a bygone era in Ireland

As part of Design Week (designweek

As part of Design Week (designweek.ie), November 1st-7th, interior designer Peter Johnson will exhibit photographs by Hugh Doran at his shop on Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar.

The exhibition, in collaboration with the Irish Architectural Archive, features Dublin street scenes, Irish interior and exterior architecture and portraiture of the 1950s and 1960s. Hugh Doran was a printer by profession with Arthur Guinness Co, but is also an amateur photographer. The exhibition opens on Thursday, November 4th. Also, as part of Design Week, Johnson will open the doors of his warehouse – usually available to trade only – which is stuffed full of an eclectic mix of Scandinavian, antique and upholstered furniture. One of the most inspiring sources of furniture in the city, the warehouse is in a disused synagogue on the corner of Oakfield Place and Lombard Street West in Dublin 8. It will be open from November 3rd-6th, 11am-4pm. See peterjohnsoninteriors.ie.
