Our Wedding Story: Rainy night out to honeymoon in sunny South Africa

Actor and fashion designer tie the knot

Elizabeth Kearns and Conor Delaney Elizabeth, a fashion designer from Dundalk, Co Louth, met actor Conor, from Sutton, Co Dublin, on a rainy night out in January 2013.

“We met in Flannery’s, a pub we’d never normally venture to, and haven’t been back to since,” remembers Elizabeth.

“But funnily enough, a number of our married friends also met there ... I definitely think it’s a place to meet.”

Elizabeth and Conor were married on October 16th, 2015 in Culmullen Church, Co Meath and their reception was held in Bellinter House Hotel.

Elizabeth designed the stationary, floral arrangements, centre-pieces, decorations and favours – animal chocolate bars. “We had a subtle elephant theme as we’re both animal lovers, especially elephants – they mate for life and symbolize strength, honour, stability and patience – all qualities we believe to be important for our marriage.”

Conor and his father Donal sang during their speeches and the bride’s father, Nicholas, wrote a poem.

The bride’s mother is Mary Kearns and Conor’s is Kay Delaney.

The married couple's first dance was to Baby I Love You by The Ramones performed by The Prickly Pairs and Fair City actor Geoff Minogue.

The groom and his friends did the haka when the band finished playing, before a session kicked off in the drawing room.

The bride’s sister gifted the couple with an aerial photograph, taken by Eamonn Gosling at Masterpiece Aerial Photography in Dundalk, of everyone on the lawn at Bellinter.

A few days later, the newlyweds, who live in Santry, flew to Dubai and then on to South Africa for their honeymoon. Conor will appear in The Unsung Hero in Dublin's Theatre Upstairs next month.
