A visit to the coastal town of Baltimore in west Cork is not complete without a climb to the iconic Beacon that has marked the entrance to Baltimore Harbour since the late 1700s. Now you can have a memento of this beautiful area and help a good cause at the same time.

The accessory shop called Wish, in Skibbereen, has commissioned pendants fashioned on the beacon from a local goldsmith, Aoife O’Mahony. The silver and 9ct gold pendant will cost €75, with 10 per cent of the proceeds going to the RNLI Baltimore Lifeboat, one of the busiest lifeboat stations in the country.

Only 75 necklaces will be produced and they are available exclusively from Wish, which is owned by Catherine Roantree and Emer Olsen, at 37 North Street, Skibbereen. You can order by post or by ringing 028-40321. See wish.ie.
