A new year, a new page . . .

Choosing a new diary can be a difficult task – after all, you’re going to be stuck with it all year

Choosing a new diary can be a difficult task – after all, you’re going to be stuck with it all year. But lovers of both elegant design and women’s writing are unlikely to tire of The Persephone 90: Diary for 2011 (£10). Persephone Books has been producing beautiful new editions of lost classics by (mostly) female writers since 1999, and now in addition to 90 titles by authors such as Noel Streatfeild and Katherine Mansfield, they’ve produced an equally gorgeous diary.

Every Persephone title has its own individual endpapers based on a fabric design from the era in which the book was originally published. The new diary features all 90 fabrics (including this jolly yellow 1932 Duncan Grant design that Virginia and Leonard Woolf once used to cover their sofa), along with each book’s opening line. Available from persephonebooks.co.uk.
