A mask for Halloween

We asked Irish Times cartoonist Martyn Turner to design a Halloween mask, and here’s the result: an Anglo-Irish pirate.

To fashion this into an actual mask, you will need: scissors or scalpel, a sheet of card, some glue, elastic and a head.

Option 1

Cut out the image. You might have to get a child to help you with this, as – in the current climate of public anger, and with the dangerous psychological trigger of an Anglo Irish Bank logo on the hat – an adult might become violent and do something awful with the scissors/scalpel.

Glue it on to a piece of card.

Then you have to cut it out all over again (patience, concentrate), make two holes for the elastic (string will do if you’re a lazy non-perfectionist) and attach it to your head.

Option 2

If you are in a higher-tech environment, like an office, or a Spar, you should be able to develop a more professional-looking product.

Photocopy the image on to white card, cut it out (there is no avoiding cutting this out at least once).

Make holes.

Strap to head.

Call round to Brian Lenihan’s house and ask for money/treats. Hey, it’s worked before.
