Describe what you're wearing

I bought the coat in Cache in California because it is very contoured. I just like the print and gold buttons; it's a little classier than what I am used to. The crop jeans are Guess - I got them in Brown Thomas or the Kilkenny shop in Galway. Because my hips are rather large, when I find jeans to suit my body shape, I snap them up. I roll them up a bit below the knee to give me extra length. The red top is by Red Herring from Debenhams.

What about those accessories?

The Italian shoes and bag are from Premoli in Galway and they are completely different to anything I have ever chosen before. I got them to wear to an event in Monte Carlo. I got the belt in Barna, Co Galway.

Tell me about your jewellery

I am wearing 18ct gold and diamond Longines watch, a yellow diamond bangle, a gold and diamond ring by Sirena and an Italian gold chain with diamonds by Fope, all from Hartmanns in Galway, along with House of Fire diamond studs and my wedding ring.

How do you describe your style?

I am overly casual and in my youth I went through every fashion trend, but since my mother-in-law in Galway started buying me bits and pieces, I now make a bit more of an effort. I came to Galway from the beach in California and my dress style has definitely changed since I have come to live in Ireland.

How do Galway women dress, in your opinion?

Maybe they are more conservative because of the weather - also, it is a small town and you are always running into people you know, so you need to make more of an effort. There is a strong culture of ladies who lunch and a lot of golfers.

What's the most you've ever spent?

I spent €600 on a heavy black satin trench by Karen Millen after I won money on a horse, and I bought matching bag and shoes too.

Do you hang on to your clothes?

If something means a lot to me, I have a hard time getting rid of it. I have three wardrobes in different rooms with different themes - my dress wardrobe, my casual wardrobe and a shoe and hat one. I look after my clothes and spend a fortune at the dry cleaner.

Where do you shop?

Mostly in Galway - everything is accessible by foot and I can find everything I need.

What about surfing?

I have a surf wardrobe here and in California - I keep my eight and half foot longboard and my five-millimetre wetsuit here. We surf at Lahinch and Strandhill, but I am a fair-weather surfer - my daredevil days are over.

Hair and make-up?

I do my own make-up and buy almost everything from Clinique and Mac. My hair is cut and highlighted regularly in Zenith in Galway.

Do you wear a lot of colour?Yes, but black drives me in constantly and I would wear it every day if I could - I have to make a conscious effort to move from black to colour.

Any style icons?I like Dita Von Teese; she is elegant and attractive and gets the accessories just right. She has a fantastic sense of balance and creative style.
