Mercedes-Benz has signed a €1.3 million two-year contract with soccer star Wayne Rooney that stipulates that Rooney will drive only Mercedes-Benz cars to matches and training sessions.
This means that his wife Coleen will be left to drive the rest of his fleet, including a Bentley Continental GT, a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and an Aston Martin Vanquish. As part of the deal, Rooney has taken delivery of a Mercedes CL63 AMG.
Brand analysts have questioned the merits of the deal given that the striker has been involved in a number of crashes, including crashing his Aston Martin in 2007, his Range Rover in 2006, his BMW X5 in 2005 and a 2004 collision with a truck in a Cadillac Escalade.
