Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead
DUBLIN: Final phase of the roundabout at Hollystown Cross; there will be delays, especially coming from Ratoath though Kilbride to Blanchardstown Road North during rush hour.
Cycle races will take place in the Phoenix Park, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesdays over the summer: May 13th, June 10th, July 1st, July 15th, July 22nd and August 19th; roads will be closed to traffic; the Main Road (between Phoenix Junction and Mountjoy Cross), and Survey Road (between junction with Main Road and junction with Furze, Upper Glen and Knockmaroon roads).
Traffic diverted or halted at the following points: Phoenix Junction, Mountjoy Junction and the junction of Survey Road, Upper Glen Road, Furze Road and Knockmaroon Road.
Roadworks on Feltrim Road in Swords, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday; traffic down to one lane from Kinsealy Court Estate to Kettles Lane and delays at peak times.
Queen Street traffic down to one lane at Benburb Street for Luas track work. Avoid the area if possible.
The musical Chicago in the Point Theatre has been attracting large crowds; delays can be expected on approach to Point Theatre on North Wall Quay from city centre and Eastlink tollbridge.
MEATH: Traffic lights at new shopping centre in Ashbourne on the main N2 causing delays.
Traffic sequence has been altered on main M1 at Gormanstown for northbound traffic. Roadworks and advance warning signs erected. This is where the M1 motorway currently ends on the northbound carriageway at Gormanstown. Traffic reduced to one lane earlier than at present.
KILDARE: Roadworks on Clane Road in Celbridge, with temporary traffic lights from 7.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
CORK: Diversion on Thomas Davis Street in Blackpool for roadworks - outbound closed to all traffic (at the old fire station). Southbound traffic turns right at the old fire station, and on to the North Ring Road overpass.
CARLOW: Roadworks are in place until September at the junction of the N9/Hanover Junction, Barrack Street/Kennedy Avenue.
Works will also be in place at Paupish Lane/Angler's Walk junction and alongside New Oak Estate to Staplestown Road.
GALWAY: Major re-signalling project on the Galway/Dublin train line. Expect service alterations and disruptions.
A major re-signalling project on the Galway-Dublin route will be commissioned on June 8th.
To facilitate this, there will be some disruption to services on the Galway-Dublin route during the period of May 6th to June 8th. For the first three weeks of the works the 05.20 a.m. and 07.45 a.m. Galway-Heuston services, and the 16.50 p.m. and 19.05 p.m. Heuston-Galway services will operate as normal.
All other services will have a bus transfer between Galway and Ballinasloe. Departure times for bus transfers are to be advanced by 20 minutes and special timetables are available.
