Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead
DUBLIN: To facilitate the Men's Mini Marathon on May 5th, Chapelizod Gate and the Knockmaroon Gate of the Phoneix Park will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Restrictions will apply at Island Bridge. The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic: Acres Rd, Chesterfield Ave between the Phoenix and Mountjoy Cross, Survey Rd from Mountjoy Junction to Upper Glen Rd, and Upper Glen Rd/Glen Rd to Islandbridge Gate.
Cycle races in the Phoenix Park between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the following Tuesdays over the summer: May 13th, June 10th, July 1st, July 15th, July 22nd and August 19th. To facilitate the races, the following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic: The Main Rd (between Phoenix Junction and Mountjoy Cross), and Survey Rd (between its junction with the Main Rd and its junction with the Furze, Upper Glen and Knockmaroon Rds). Traffic will be diverted or halted at the following points: Phoenix Junction, Mountjoy Junction and the junction of Survey Rd, Upper Glen Rd, Furze Rd and Knockmaroon Rd.
Roadworks on Feltrim Rd in Swords between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday until May 16th. Traffic is down to one lane from the Kinsealy Court Estate to Kettles Lane - expect delays, especially at peak times.
Queen St traffic is down to one lane at Benburb St until May 7th for Luas work. Avoid the area if possible.
The musical Chicago is at the Point over the May bank holiday weekend. Expect delays on approaches to the Point on North Wall Quay from city centre and over the Eastlink for the matinees and evening showings.
KILDARE: Works on the Clane Rd in Celbridge till mid-May, with temporary lights from 7.30 a.m. till 6 p.m.
MEATH: Temporary lights at Laracor Bridge, Trim - delays.
New lights at the new shopping centre in Ashbourne on the N2 - delays.
WICKLOW: Speed limit on the N11 is down from 60 mph to 40 mph from north of the Bee Hive Pub to the end of Newtown Bypass. This limit will remain until the completion of the Ashford Rathnew bypass. Garda speed checks in operation.
CORK: Emergency works on South Mall at Grand Parade. The lane leading from Parliament Bridge to Grand Parade closed, with westbound traffic diverted via Sullivan's Quay, French's Quay, Proby's Quay and Sharman Crawford Quay. Eastbound traffic can travel from Grand Parade into South Mall. Work on Wood St has extended to the junction with Dyke Parade. Traffic on Dyke Parade is reduced to one lane on the approach to the junction of Dyke Parade and Sheares St. Expect delays. Motorists should move into the left hand lane as they approach the junction. Lights switched to flashing amber to ease congestion. Works and restrictions will progress towards Sheares St.
KILKENNY: Works from Gowran to Ballyhale on the N9 and from Ballyhale to Mullinavat until early June. They are in two sections: from Gowran Race Course to Ballyhale (via Dungarvan and Thomastown) and from Ballyhale to Mullinavat on the N9. Works take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday with temporary lights.
