Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead
DUBLIN: roadworks on Feltrim Road in Swords between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Traffic one lane from the Kinsealy Court Estate to Kettles Lane: expect delays, especially at peak times.
Queen Street traffic one lane at Benburb Street, for Luas track work. Avoid the area if possible.
The second West Link Bridge on the M50 is due to open in September, and there is work linking the new Bridge with the First Bridge and the M50: thus there will be temporary traffic arrangements. A customer leaflet setting out the timetable and arrangements is available at the West Link toll booths.
New roundabout layout at Hollystown Cross: roundabout still under construction at Hollystown Cross, and on the Ratoath Road junction with R121(Church Rd.)
Iarnród Éireann will close the Coolmine Road at Coolmine level crossing from 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 26th to 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 27th to upgrade the level crossing. Alternative route via Clonsilla Road to Main Street, Blanchardstown to theCastleknock Road to the junction of the Laurel Lodge Road and onto Carpenterstown Park and Carpenterstown Road.
The musical Chicago is at the Point Theatre over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, and likely to attract crowds: delays expected on approach to theatre on North Wall Quay from City Centre.
KILDARE: roadworks and temporary lights on Clane Road in Celbridge, with traffic temporary lights operating from 7.30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
MEATH: temporary lights at Laracor Bridge in Trim, as a result of damage to the bridge wall. Expect some delays. New traffic lights at the shopping centre in Ashbourne on the N2 causing delays. It may take a while for motorists to get used to the new set-up.
Races at Punchestown, over the afternoons of May Bank Holiday weekend. Expect delays on approach routes before and after the races finish.
KILKENNY: roadworks on Castlecomer Road at New Road Roundabout junction: the width of the Castlecomer Road at this junction will be restricted.
Ferrymountgarret Bridge has re-opened, on the main Kilkenny/New Ross Road.
WICKLOW: speed limit on the N11 reduced from 60 mph to 40 mph from north of the Bee Hive Pub to the end of Newtown Bypass, until completion of Ashford-Rathnew bypass. Garda speed checks will be in operation.
CLARE: Drumgeely entrance to Shannon Town Industrial Estate reopened to two-way traffic. Restrictions on the N68 Kilrush Road removed, but roadworks still in place.
CAVAN: five-minute delays on the N55 between Cavan and Ballinagh due to road works. New roadworks now in place on Main Street, Killeshandra. Congestion likely.
WESTMEATH: roadworks on the Athlone side of the N62 Birr Ballinahoun Road, with temporary traffic lights.
LOUTH: roadworks just north of the border on the main A1 Belfast to Dublin Road, northbound traffic is diverting. The alternative route is via Carlingford and Omeath to Newry (N1-R173).
