Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead

DUBLIN: realignment of junction layout at Longmile Rd / Naas Rd junction is in place. Expect delays, especially at peak times. New traffic signals are in place. Inbound motorists who wish to turn right on to Longmile Road should stay on far left lane so as to bear left on approach to the junction where you have to use two roundabout-type lanes at left of side of road. Works and associated lane and junction changes well signposted, but care needed.

Realignment on Greenhills Rd between Airton Road and Old Tallaght Road until October. Temporary traffic lights and single lane restrictions in place. Works are carried out Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. When completed, Greenhills Road will be extended to meet junction of Tallaght Bypass.

For six weeks, Ordnance Rd Survey Rd in Phoenix Park closed for road drainage and resurfacing. Closure from Mountjoy junction to Knockmaroon junction Monday to Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Diversions signposted.

CORK: Pembroke Street and Crane Lane in city centre closed until at least mid-April for drainage works. Local diversions, no major delays expected.

Restrictions on St Finbarr's Bridge going onto Washington Street; no exit from St Finbarr's Bridge onto Washington Street; local access for businesses only from Sharman Crawford Street; alternative route for westbound traffic via Sharman Crawford Street, Clarke's Bridge, Hanover Place and Washington Street; traffic from Washington Street to turn left onto St Finbarr's Bridge for access to the local businesses including St Finbarr's Car Park.

As a direct result, you can expect it to add extra volumes to traffic travelling along Clarkes Bridge. Also in Cork, there is a one-way system on the Sarsfield Road until at least March 25th. Some peak time delays can be expected in both the mornings and evenings.

WEXFORD: on the N11, there is a stop-and-go system at the pedestrian lights on Main Street, Gorey with a diversion for traffic coming from Arklow. These restrictions are in operation due to resurfacing works and will be in place until mid or late May. The stop-and-go system will be moving along the main street but will be there daily from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Monday to Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., Fridays. Expect delays at peak times as has been the case since the work started. The advice is to avoid the area during peak times. Parking is restricted on some parts of main street as well.

KILKENNY: works are being carried out from Gowran to Ballyhale on the main N9 and also from Ballyhale to Mullinavat until early June. These Eircom works are taking place in two sections: from Gowran Race Course to Ballyhale (via Dungarvan and Thomastown) and from Ballyhale to Mullinavat on the N9. All works will be in place until about the start of June. The works take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily including Saturdays. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation as well in certain areas.

SLIGO: resurfacing and restructuring of the traffic calming on the Ballina Road in Ballisadare village will cause disruptions throughout the week.
