Routes to avoid around the country in the week ahead

DUBLIN: continuing Luas works in the Tallaght area - weekend closures at the junction of Belgard Road/Embankment Road. Closures on the weekends: January 31st to 3rd February 3rd, February 7th to February 10th, February 14th to February 17th. Closure from 10 p.m. on Fridays until 6 a.m. on Mondays. No through traffic on the Belgard Road through the junction or on the Embankment Road at this junction. Local traffic can divert via Cookstown Estate Road, Old Belgard Road, Cookstown Road (to the Belgard Road). Traffic going to the M50 should go via the Naas Road (N7) or the Tallaght Bypass (N81).

Both Dunville Avenue and Beechwood Road in Ranelagh are closed for roadworks. There is pedestrian access only. Traffic on the Alfie Byrne Road has been switched to a new stretch of temporary road near the entrance to the East Point Business Park.

Traffic will be routed onto this road until the new re-aligned Alfie Byrne Road is built over the Dublin Port Tunnel.

In Balbriggan, George's Hill & Station Street are closed for the construction of the Foul Sewer Outfall at Balbriggan. Alternative route to part of George's Hill and part of Station Road for vehicular and pedestrian traffic via Mill Street, Drogheda Street, Railway Street and Station Road. Georges Hill is presently one way, east to west: George's Hill will be two-way west of the junction with Station Road. It is proposed to make Mill St one-way, east to west.

CLARE: contra-flow until further notice on the south carriageway of the N18 between Clonmoney and Drumline. No entry to Hurlers Cross off the existing N18. Access only from the link road to Shannon.

CORK: works on St Patrick's Street have resumed. Southbound traffic is diverted onto the new section of the street on the Roches Stores side. Traffic will be one-way from February.

CARLOW: detour on the N81, south of Tullow due to sewerage works. The diversion is coming from Bunclody to Tullow in an area known locally as Ardristan or Ellengrove.

Inbound traffic will be diverted to the left along the County Road (this a very narrow road so care is needed) as far as the Forge junction at Castlemore and then right for Tullow. Outbound traffic on the N81 will not be diverted but there may be a few delays.

KILDARE: there are races at the Punchestown Racecourse on February 1st and 2nd, beginning each day at 1.30 p.m. and finishing at 4.30 p.m. Expect delays on approach to the racecourse, and also on the main N7, before and after the races.

FERRIES: the Irish Ferries ship on the Rosslare to France route is out of service until March 2nd at 4 p.m, for annual maintenance. A reduced sailing schedule on the Irish Ferries Rosslare to Pembroke service. Departures from Rosslare at 8:30 p.m. each evening, returning from Pembroke 4.30 a.m.
