HARD SHOULDER:A FORTNIGHT since the closure of Citroen's Irish importer Gallic Distributors, the French brand has yet to appoint a replacement.
A spokesperson for the UK operation said an announcement was imminent 'in the very near future'. He would not confirm the brand was going to be operated as part of the UK division, but said the brand "will be formally organising the situation in Éire in the coming weeks". It is expected that will involve some level of control by the UK division of the brand.
Gallic Distributors closed on November 1st with the loss of 30 jobs. Citroen sales up to the end of October were 810 new cars, representing 1.4 per cent of the overall new car market here.
