Riders ask for new Qatar date:Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi and Loris Capirossi have put in a formal request to have the date of the Qatar night race pushed back.
They have asked for the date change due to their concerns over tyre temperature and they have the backing of the MotoGP Safety Commission. They say that at night in Qatar the track temperatures are too cold for their tyres to work at the optimum temperature.
MotoGP riders launch tyres
Six MotoGP riders helped Bridgestone launch its latest road tyre, the Battlax BT-016 hypersport tyre over at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain. World champion Casey Stoner, Ducati teammate Marco Melandri and others rode on the tyres which offer five different compound layers on the rear tyre and three on the front for improved handling and longevity.
Schumacher rides again
Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has been out on the track, this time competing in a motorcycle race in Hungary aboard a Honda Fireblade owned by the Holzhauer team. Schumacher came third, behind Martin Bauer and Andy Meklau.
