Developers Pat Doherty and Gerry Maguire have finally got planning permission from Drogheda Corporation for a 90,000-square-foot shopping centre on the site of the former Drogheda Grammar School at Laurence Street. However, work on the £16 million development is not expected to commence until next summer by which time an archaeological dig is due to be completed. The centre will have an anchor store with 38,000 square feet and an additional 33,000 square feet for unit shopping. There will also be 8,000 square feet of offices. The complex will also include a multi-storey car-park with 350 spaces.
