Restoration for IMMAWorks to the gates at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham Dublin 8 will involve the removal and relocation of the two military trophies on the entrance piers.
The Commissioners for Public Work, on behalf of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, is looking to restore the trophies and move them into Kilmainham Hospital and replace them with contemporary ones.
The plan is to build a second set of double gates at the entrance at the junction of Military Road and Irwin Street.
Also part of the proposal is a granite cobbled forecourt outside the gates and a new pedestrian footpath outside the boundary wall, widen the footpath inside the gates by 2m and build another path on the other side, and build a new retaining wall.
The planning application also seeks to widen the roadway to the gates of the IMMA involving the removal of two trees and yew hedge.
Cavan golf course opposed
A proposal to build an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse at Farnham Demesne in Co Cavan has been opposed by a local man.
George Tutty, who lives at The Battleaxe Gate Lodge in Farnham has appealed planning permission for the venture to AnBord Pleanála.
Mr Tutty has concerns that the development could seriously impact on his home and family life should "accidental interference" with his septic tank take place.
He said that while one of the conditions of permission relates to the tank, "there is no mention of the pipe leading from my home to the tank."
He believed it should be isolated completely from the golf course to avoid this.
Barry's Hotel plan refused
Darnside Ltd has been refused permission to build 18 apartments to the rear of Barry's Hotel on Denmark Street in Dublin 1.
The proposal was for apartments with inset balconies in one six-storey block with car parking at ground floor and vehicular access at Frederick Court. Darnside, whose directors are Edward and Gregory Fahy, were refused by Dublin City Council on the grounds the plan is premature and piecemeal in the absence of a comprehensive plan for the entire site.
The council said the mass, height and design would injure amenities of protected structures in the area and 11 car spaces is excessive due to restricted laneway access off Frederick Court.
