Dublin 1: €1m A listed building in need of total refurbishment at 36 North Great George's Street, Dublin 1, is expected to top €1 million when it is auctioned by Lisney on November 16th.
The four-storey over basement semi-detached building is currently divided into bedsits and flats but planning permission has been granted to convert it into two floors of office space and four apartments, including a large duplex unit.
Dating from the 1780s, number 36 is located next door to the James Joyce Centre. Like its neighbours, number 36 is a vast 548sq m (5,898sq ft) townhouse. Some original features remain, including some ornate plasterwork, particularly in the hallway, while a number of the rooms still have fireplaces.
The façade has been repaired in recent years, but other parts of the building, in particular the extensive basement, have not been touched for decades.
