Tesco is to occupy a new 60,000 sq ft supermarket which will form part of a £9 million (€11.43m) extension to Wilton Shopping Centre in Cork. The first phase of the extension, which has been approved by An Bord Pleanβla, will provide an extra 500 car-parking spaces. The Irish Pension Fund Property Unit Trust, which owns the centre, is to lodge a further planning application to develop up to 15 retail units on the site of the old Quinnsworth centre at a cost of over £10 million (€12.7m).
