Sutton Castle Hotel at Sutton, Co Dublin, was sold yesterday at auction for £2.55 million. Bidding at the Gunne auction was opened at £2.45 million by Joe Cosgrave of Cosgrave Homes and with two other parties chasing the hotel, it was declared on the market at £2.5 million by Pat Gunne, conducting his first major auction. It was eventually knocked down to a solicitor who is thought to have been acting for a north Dublin hotelier. The Victorian hotel has 19 en-suite bedrooms and stands on seven acres. It had a net turnover of £1.5 million last year.
