Donabate: from €235,000 First or second-time buyers could be in the running for a €315,000 penthouse at The Gallery, a smart new homes development showing this weekend at Turvey Walk in Donabate village, Co Dublin. Prices start at €235,000, so there is something to suit most budgets.

Sherry FitzGerald New Homes will be taking bookings for 50 one, two and three-bedroom apartments in this contemporary scheme, which is finished to a commendably high specification.

Prices start at €235,000 for one-bedroom apartments of about 56sq m (597sq ft). Two-bed apartments of 65-84sq m (700-904sq ft) cost from €260,000. Two-bedroom penthouses of 80-94sq m (861-1,010sq ft) start at €315,000.

From €395,000 buys a 125sq m (1,356sq ft) three-bedroom apartment. Three-bed penthouses of 120-126sq m (1,290-1,356sq ft) are from €425,000. Large duplexes with two bedrooms and 120sq m (1,294sq ft) of living space also start at €425,000.

The Gallery is composed of nine modern brick and render buildings with lots of steel and glass and classic formal landscaping. The site is right beside the train station and close to a good road network, so commuting should be reasonably stress-free.

Not so long ago, Donabate was where Dublin families came for weekends at the seaside. Young families and first-time buyers are now moving here full-time, enjoying the benefits of its coastal location and endless beaches year-round.

Developer Shelman Properties and architects Henry J Lyons & Co came up with a terrific fit-out for these apartments, one that could give the scheme the edge over its competitors.

Kitchens come with a full range of electrical appliances, bathrooms and en suites have top-range tiling and fittings, and all bedrooms have wardrobes. Windows are often floor-to-ceiling in Swedish timber and sit-out balconies are provided. Heating is natural gas.

Penthouses have attractive sloped ceilings and tall angled windows opening onto glass-walled terraces. Apartments booked in this phase will be ready for occupation in early 2006, according to Sherry FitzGerald New Homes. Viewing extends from today until Sunday 11th.
