The shortage of development land in Dublin is having a knock-on effect on prices in adjoining counties. A site of 13 acres on the edge of The Curragh, at Dublin Road, Kildare, has been sold at auction for £1.5 million. The previous day, a similar sized site adjoining the Co Meath village of Dunshaughlin made double that price. Woodgreen Builders was the highest bidder for the land, which has planning permission for 83 houses. The price equates to £36,000 per site, easily the highest figure paid for housing land in Co Meath. Agents Brophy Farrell auctioned the Kildare land and Hamilton Osborne King sold the Dunshaughlin land, which was owned for many years by a local farming family.
