Corporate Sport and Leisure Ltd (CSL) is expected to apply to renew its short term lease of Fadó Restaurant on Dawson Street, Dublin 2 which is part of the Mansion House's Supper Room.

Dublin City Council has invited companies which are interested in operating the Round Room and Supper Room of the Mansion House to make submissions by November 19th.

The lease to run the rooms is renewed every four years and nine months. The public rooms, which adjoin the Lord Mayor's residence, were built in 1821 to host King George IV's visit and in recent years have been used for exhibitions, conferences, meetings, dances and fairs.

The 90ft-wide Round Room has a 5ft-deep balcony encircling more than half this space. It can accommodate up to 450 guests for a gala dinner or conference. The main entrance is on Dawson Street with access from Schoolhouse Lane.

Fadó Restaurant is located in the Supper Room which is entered off the forecourt to the Mansion House.

The Supper Room has had three incarnations - the current one was designed by architect George Coppinger Ashlin in 1891. Fadó Restaurant opened there in 2000.

The directors of Corporate Sport and Leisure, who also ran the Round Room, are Michael McHugh, Shane Clyne and Elizabeth Long.

The Mansion House is in an area zoned Objective Z5 in the Dublin City Development Plan 1999 which aims "to consolidate and facilitate the development of the central area to identify, reinforce, strengthen and protects its civic design, character and dignity".

Permitted uses include a restaurant, conference, banqueting, and leisure facilities.

Interested companies must submit their turnover for the last three years, which must not be less than €2 million per annum.
