WHEN 80 PARTIES showed up to view a near derelict house in Blackrock last weekend selling agent Colliers Jackson-Stops likened it to the good old days.
The property in question, a two-bedroom cottage with a large garden at Stradbrook Park, has plenty of potential – it could be tripled in size, says Peter Kenny of Colliers. More importantly, it’s at a rock bottom price – €315,000. The first offer came in on Monday morning and the agency hopes to have a sale wrapped up by next week.
“It’s a good starter home and people reckon that you can get building work done at a reasonable price at the moment,” says Kenny. “Plus you can get finance on something like this. There isn’t finance available for much else!”
Meanwhile in Donnybrook, Lisney had a similar crowd viewing a house at 49 Eglinton Road, that also needs a considerable amount of work. In this case, 70 parties showed up to view the five-bedroom house which is set for auction in a fortnight’s time. The AMV is €1.3 million, which, again, is considered cheap for the Dublin 4 address.
