The number of property transactions this year has surpassed the total for 2011.
The latest additions to the new Property Price Register last Friday have taken the number of properties sold in the State up until November 16th to 18,390.
That has surpassed the overall total for 2011 of 18,033. If activity continues, by year end, the figure could reach the 2010 total of 20,801 transactions, particularly if buyers manage to close deals in the coming months to avail of the mortgage interest relief scheme before it comes to an end on December 31st.
In a trawl of the numbers, myhome.iefound 616 properties were added to the price register in the latest update, including 14 Alma Road in Monkstown, Co Dublin, which recorded the biggest transaction during the period at €2.1 million.
The Property Services Regulatory Authority is also continuing to backdate the register by adding properties to the database for 2010 and 2011.
In the most recent update, three new properties were added to the list for 2010, while seven were added for 2011.
In the update before that, 10 new properties were added to the 2010 list and 13 were added to that of 2011.
