Gannon Homes have failed to secure planning permission for a mixed use village development at Grange Road in Donaghmede, Dublin 13, on the grounds that an action plan for the area has not yet been approved, the drainage system is still deficient and the access to the site would be injurious to homes in the area. The company had sought approval for 494 houses, 1,139 duplex units, 311 apartments, 47 retail units with a total floor area of 44,000 sq ft, 89 offices units with 68,000 sq ft, three light industrial buildings, four restaurants, a bank, public house and a play-school. The application also provides for site developments for future uses, which will include a nursing home with 26 sheltered dwellings, a community building, offices, two creches, a 9,687 sq ft supermarket, six retail units, a railway station and a 750-space multi-storey car-park.
