With the new housing market showing such good returns for most developers, it is hardly surprising that new players are continually looking for part of the action. The most surprising new entrant is Pierse Contracting, which is shortly to build 152 houses at Johnstown, near Navan. Pierse is one of the major contractors in the greater Dublin area - it has no less than 25 projects on hand at the moment, including the £60 million Citibank development near the IFSC - but it still has the time and the inclination to get in on the housing scene. Its new housing division will probably trade under a different name.
