With the recent closure of the IMAX cinema at the Parnell Centre, Dublin 1, the owners are seeking planning permission to redevelop the complex. The building is to be converted into three conventional cinemas and it is proposed to provide five further cinemas in vacant spaces in other parts of the centre. Meanwhile, Castlethorn Construction has lodged a planning application for a 10-year permission to develop 593 houses and apartments, a leisure centre and two retail units on lands adjacent to Pelletstown House near Ashtown, Dublin 11. The entire site of over 100 acres along the Tolka river has been designated by Dublin Corporation as a demonstration project for higher housing densities. Sean Mulryan's company, Ballymore, is to develop a large proportion of the site.
