A new bar in the Parnell Centre at Parnell Street, Dublin, has been let to businessmen David Long and Gerry Wright. It is their first venture in the licensed business. They will be paying a rent of £220,000 per annum for 12,500 sq ft on the ground floor and mezzanine level under a 35-year lease with five-year rent reviews.
They will be able to claim double rent allowances. The Parnell Centre houses the Virgin Cinema complex and IMAX Theatre, which opened last week. Morrisseys handled the letting for the Sheridan Group.Meanwhile, developer Connie Byrne has paid £1 million for a redevelopment site of 8,000 sq ft, which includes O'Flahertys bar and another pub, the Keg, which has been closed for some time at James Street and Nash's Court, Dublin 8. Morrisseys handled the sale for Francis Connolly, who is retiring from the licensed business.
