The former Solus Bulb factory in near Bray, in Co Wicklow, is to be redeveloped as an "office-based industry" site of slightly more than 7,000 sq m. The landmark factory buildings, which include a well-known tower bedecked in the Solus yellow and black livery, are at Corke Abbey.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has been asked to approve the demolition of the existing buildings and their replacement with three office blocks, which rise, in part, to four storeys each.
Also planned is a semi-basement car-parking area for 167 cars, 20 surface car-parking spaces around a communal courtyard and a new entrance from Woodbrook Glen Road. The planning application was lodged in the name of Sequel Properties, with an address at Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire.
The area is adjacent to Ravenswell, where Bray Urban District Council is planning to put in a new road to serve its new town centre development, which fronts on to the River Dargle.
