One of the best-known pubs in the west of Ireland, O'Connors of Doolin, Co Clare, has been sold at a Morrissey auction for £1.525 million. It is believed to have been bought by a Milltown Malbay publican, John Burke. Three parties chased the pub at the Morrissey auction when bidding opened at £500,000. The pub, which had a gross turnover last year of £682,000, was declared on the market at £1.45 million. It has been run by seven generations of the O'Connor family since 1832. The sale includes an adjoining three-bedroom house.

Meanwhile, Gunne has secured £1.95 million at auction for the Orwell Lodge Hotel, at Orwell Road, Rathgar, Dublin 6. It has 10 en suite bedrooms.
