One storey seeks happy ever after

Detached 1970s four-bedroom bungalow in Killiney for €925,000

Bungalows may have fallen out of fashion in recent years but are likely to have practical appeal for quite a few buyers. A detached 1970s four-bedroom bungalow in a quiet Killiney cul-de-sac, modernised in 2007 and freshly decorated, could suit somebody downsizing – or even another family like the one living there now.

The current owners are moving house to accommodate a growing brood, but it’s been a happy home, with a garden big enough to accommodate playhouses and a trampoline.

Number 19 Killiney Avenue, a 190sq m (2,045sq ft) detached four-bedroom bungalow, is for sale for €925,000 by private treaty through Sherry FitzGerald. The house is near the bottom of a cul-de-sac at the Church Road end of Killiney Avenue, a road that links Church Road to Killiney Hill Road. It’s a neighbourhood with lots of 1970s American-style houses alongside a handful of big Victorian homes.

The house is very private: the front is hidden behind electronically-controlled gates that open into a small, well-planted front garden. The walnut-floored front hall is bright – the current owners put a large skylight over it just inside the entrance.
