The Department of Education will soon have two martyrs facing it - and no, they won't be long-suffering members of ASTI. Plans are currently being considered by Dublin Corporation to erect two bronze statues to commemorate the lives of two real Dublin martyrs, Margaret Ball and Francis Taylor, outside St Mary's Pro-Cathedral on Marlborough Street. Designed by architects Scott Tallon Walker, the statues will stand on a stone plinth at the south-east corner of the podium facing the building. Both were declared blessed in 1992 by Pope John Paul II.
